I would check your source for those rumors about Haley since they are patently false. Also, Haley's style is extremely, EXTREMELY pop/mainstream (See Adele, Amy Winehouse, Jackson 5, Duffy, Retro Soul, Hip Hop) The reason it is taking her soooooooo long (what, a few months since she got off Tour, puhlease) is because she is actively involved in the writing process of HER album. So your points about the "Best Song" doesn't apply AT ALL! She is co-writing her entire album. If you are going to analyze and critique Haley's decisions, at least come forth with facts. I'm glad those rumors are false. Thanks for clarifying that point. -------------------- AI Forever: Kelly Clay Diana Carrie Kat Melinda Syesha Allison Crystal Haley Jessica

That rumor actually came from someone who is a fan of hers, but it was months ago shortly after the season was over. I haven't followed her at all. That was the last thing I heard about her from that friend. Not sure she (the friend) keeps up with what she's doing anymore because she hasn't mentioned Haley at all in a few months. -------------------- America got it WRONG!

shortly after the show aka when the Tour was happening? I think it was probably around that time, yeah, although I'm not entirely positive. She was a fan of Haley and I was a fan of James and we were talking about what kind of music we thought our favs would end up recording and she said that Haley had turned some stuff down or something to that effect. She always read stuff online but I don't know where she heard it. She's pretty smart so I figured she knew what she was talking about. Guess she got bad info or something. -------------------- America got it WRONG!

I hope he doesn't associate himself with her album, either, because I don't think it's going to be very successful. I'd rather him sing his own songs, and if he does write for anyone else it should be someone who can really do his songs justice. Who said Melanie couldn't do a Chris song justice? -------------------- i guess i wanted you more

Who said Melanie couldn't do a Chris song justice? I say Melanie couldn't do Chris' music justice. She over sings everything and that takes away from a song. When you record a song it's supposed to be to sell the song, tell a story and connect, not try to win a pageant by being able to sing higher and louder than everyone else. Regarding flopping...Simon invested a small fortune in launching Leona Lewis in the US and we all saw how that worked out. She had one hit song and sold her first album well because of that single. Everything else she has released has flopped hard in the US market. Leona was supposed to be Simon's Mariah Carey and he didn't want to see her flop here and did everything he could to make her succeed...but he can't force people to like and buy music. Whether or not Melanie flops will be out of Simon's hands. No amount of promotion and money spent will make people buy something they aren't interested in buying. As far as what she will do...it won't be anything that someone else isn't already doing better. Sorry, but that really is honestly how I see it. Success as a recording artist is NOT about having the best voice, it's about being a complete package and being unique. I usually don't bother to reply to your Melanie/Leona opinions because they don't change but are constantly repeated. Your opinion is fine and relevant but when you quote "facts" please let them be accurate and not opinionated. I see that you are back to Leona "flopping" in the USA after her 1st album. Well she has only made 2 and the 2nd one sold 400,000 with almost no promotion from Leona, which is very disappointing but not a hard flop. Simon made it very clear to Leona that she would need to spend a lot more time in the states to solidify success there. Leona made it very clear to Simon that it was not the most important thing in her life but that that remaining with family and friends was. She stills lives in Hackney. East London, which is an inner city area with all the normal inner city problems. Simon spent a lot of money on producers, writers etc on her first album but not on promoting her in the states. That money is not her determination, was shown by the fact that she turned down £1 mil ($1.6mil) to open a sale at a shop in London (Harrods - because they still sell real fur) Her 3rd album is scheduled to come out in March 2012 so it will be interesting to see the type of material on it and if it is a commercial success. I would be very happy for any of the contestants to have (and now I'm repeating myself) US sales of 1.400.000 for their 1st two albums and ecstatic if they had 11.500.000 world wide. We will see if you would consider Chris a flop if he achieved those figures! --------------------

I don't know why you keep trying to make sales figures outside the United States as being relevant to how successful a recording artist is IN the US. It's not relevant at all. Simon was all over US media calling Leona the next Mariah Carey. He even made her cancel interviews to rest her voice over here. He brought in the most expensive and best people to work with her at that time. He went all out. He got her on Oprah and American Idol to sing Bleeding Love and THAT is the only reason her first single and album did well. When Mariah put out a new album she didn't have to go out and push promotion hard because people were watching out for the next album. People here in the US just don't have widespread interest in that type of music and haven't for about 20 years. http://blog.divareport.com/2010/01/why-leo...-us-second.html http://thafeedback.com/2010/blogs/its-easy...-an-empty-room/ This post has been edited by jdrocks84: Jan 8th 2012, 4:34 AM -------------------- America got it WRONG!

It is not just an opinion, as you have quoted. The first quote is from a co-song writer,Ryan Tedder who was upset that Leona hardly promoted his song in the US (yet you say "despite massive promotion"it flopped) The second quote is from a blog, which is like taking one of our opinions and saying therefore it is true. The expensive people Simon brought in were directly associated with the albums, so that paid off (tho' it detracted from the relevancy of the albums imo) It doesn't cost Simon anything to be all over the media, either for self promotion or artist promotion, the media laps it up for free. Shows like Oprah and AI pay the artists to be on, not the other way round. (again you argue against yourself. firstly saying that the reason that Bleeding Love and "Spirit" were successful was because of this and then saying that "Echo" flopped despite this) Mariah' s 2001 Virgin album had massive promotion costs (and flopped in your terms) but if her kind of music hasn't had widespread interest for 20 years, how come she had the biggest selling Album in the US in 2005 (2nd globally). Her 1st weeks sales figures for her 2007 Album was her largest ever and both the 2009 and 2010 albums have gone gold in the US. Of course sales figures outside of the US do not make them a successful recording artist in the US but it does make them a successful recording artist in general. Back on topic, it certainly works in the UK to wait the year and have the new season to promote the previous artists but as everyone has said viewing figures for the show there are much higher (equivalent to 60 million US viewers) media coverage enormous and anticipation is much greater. Probably Chris and Astro would need to go before then but Mel and the others could wait as far as albums are concerned. --------------------

Why does Epic have Chris in the studio recording already...because the official announcement of him being signed has even been made? Why is there already buzz about Chris releasing his first original single this month and Melanie doesn't even have a single to record yet? Why will Chris release an album before Melanie will? Simple...because Melanie is the girl who wins a talent show and Chris is the guy who can sell records. -------------------- America got it WRONG!
