This makes me SO PISSED that I don't live in LA, but SO HAPPY and SO PROUD of Haley for doing this gig. It's been a dream of mine since the first time I saw her perform Moanin' on Idol that she follow her jazz destiny, for it's the one and only canvas which is vast, diverse and free enough to allow her natural, God-given gifts to be fully expressed and actualized.
Could she do pop, techno, rock or R&B at a high level, too? Sure, but that would be like Dali wasting his career drawing cartoons instead of painting beautiful, ingenious, provocative masterpieces. Besides, like a master chef, Haley could always season her jazz entree with these ingredients to add more flavor to her delicious music.
