Unfortuantely, they will never go back to the original format.   Idol used to make SO much money and have so many viewers so they could produce as many live shows as they wanted.   Currently, audition episodes are the cheapest to produce and the most watched - so they focus on those - 6 weeks of auditions.  Live shows are expensive and they want to do as few of those as possible.

I'm starting to like Tae's KO more than Asher's.
