All the acts that lost major label deals in 2007 Just to give you an idea... Neither Taylor nor Kat or on it because they weren't official yet I believe. Thank you so much for that link!!! We may need this later on down the line for some more "factual" responses!!! -------------------- "The album she is working on will show many new sides to her talents as an interpreter and a songwriter, and show everyone just how special she is," Verve Music Group president/CEO Bruce Resnikoff says. guys, its not like since RCA "got rid of her," or however you wanna put it, means she fades into obscurity. she is still going to events and being shot by the paps. her public celebrity is no different than it was a week ago. so honestly we all need to stop acting like we didnt see this coming. we all thought she was gone almost 3 months ago and we were all happy with it and now that we know for fact it has happened (whether its been a few months, weeks or days) we are all freaking out. so please stop freaking out.. we always get paranoid and think her career is gonna end over every negative thing that happens. remember she still has a GREAT manager and the support of David foster and i could keep going... so end of conversation.
and you negative mods can please stop posting in this topic to make us feel bad, cause quite frankly we shouldnt. -------------------- ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

She has been a turd in the punchbowl of all other AI5 fanbases since the show. This is one of the reasons why I am glad all of her AI connections are basically gone and this phase of her career is over. AI fans are lunatics. Artists both big and small, new and established get layed off or dropped all the time and being "dropped" does not necessarily tarnish your reputation. It's going to be more difficult for Kat after an underperforming album but to say she didn't have another shot at a major label isn't quite right. And yes, having an A-list management backing her, supporters like David Foster, a studio production to be on the silverscreen in summer, and a general public interest will help her. No one is freaking out. What we are reacting to is being kicked while we are down, by a mod, no less. The Kat fans here are the ones saying that her career as a major recording artist is NOT over by any means. That doesn't mean we are non-plussed by the news that Kat does not have a record contract at the moment. It sucks, but the vast majority of us are confident that she will land on her feet. What we don't appreciate is snarky comments made in Katharine's forum by people who shall we say are not Kat fans. --------------------

2007 TOP TEN SELLING ARTISTS (based on Album sales from 01/01/2007-12/30/2007) Artist Units Sold 1 Josh Groban 4,835,000 8 Michael Buble 2,530,000 Sounds pretty mainstream to me! We didn't mention Buble at all. Is he with Foster? And I was thinking those are all Males. Are they comparable? -------------------- ![]() I haven't changed this signature since S7 for pure laziness! |

We didn't mention Buble at all. Is he with Foster? And I was thinking those are all Males. Are they comparable? Foster signed Bublé to his '143' record label, producing the self-titled album Michael Bublé in 2000. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Bubl%C3%A9 And does gender really matter? I thought your comment was about non-mainstream artists, not female non-mainstream artists. -------------------- "The album she is working on will show many new sides to her talents as an interpreter and a songwriter, and show everyone just how special she is," Verve Music Group president/CEO Bruce Resnikoff says. Right that makes sense T, the previous sales are her collateral. And you're right she made impressive friends along the way and has, as Noth said lots of other gifts to keep her afloat. Plus all these articles are still giving her credibility as good singer and blames the material, not Katharine, which is a huge plus. -------------------- ![]() Tina~Al

BTW the One Republic label that dropped them was Columbia a BMG label lol Another great move!!! Technically that's a Sony label... Thank you Tina, it's great to have a "knowledgeable" poster give facts instead of simple opinions. Plus it is great to have a poster who doesn't post things as "absolutes". Nothing in music is absolute. Thanks Bill. I thought some input would help. [/smartass] Oh and in case someone is wondering: I didn't mention talented and all that because talent is not the issue here. If it's rare for an artist to come back like that, then what makes Kat any different? That's the kind of question you ask some guy off the street, not rabid die-hards posting in a fan forum. Whoever said "because Kat's a goddess" gave exactly the hyperbolic but totally predictable answer you'd expect here. And that's the point. It's disingenuous to play dumb. Anybody making that kind of statement in here knows exactly what's going to happen. But we've read the rules and the deck is stacked. That's the end of it. --------------------
