Here is the article: Eva Avila to shine at Canada Day celebrations The Ottawa Citizen Published: Thursday, May 31, 2007 Canadian Idol Eva Avila will sing at Canada Day celebrations in the National Capital, the NCC revealed Thursday. Ms. Avila, who grew up in Gatineau, won the Idol television contest in 2006. She has since retuned to Gatineau twice to perform at the Casino du Lac-Leamy and the Maison de la Culture. Avila's debut album, Somewhere Else, has been a top seller since it was released. In November 2006, she sang at the Grey Cup game in Winnipeg. The NCC said Thursday Canada Day activities organized for July 1 in the National Capital Region will take place at four official sites: Parliament Hill, Major's Hill Park, Jacques Cartier Park, and - for the first time - on the grounds of Rideau Hall, the Governor General's residence. Parliament Hill Many ceremonies and activities for Canada Day will take place on Parliament Hill, including the Changing of the Guard; the RCMP Musical Ride; aerial manoeuvres by members of the SkyHawks, who will perform above Parliament Hill before landing in Jacques Cartier Park; and the flypast of the Snowbirds. Canadian artists from across the country will participate in the Canada Day Noon Show and the Canada Day Evening Show presented on Parliament Hill. This year, the following artists will perform: Corb Lund (Alberta) Delhi2Dublin (British Columbia) Eva Avila (Quebec) Feist (Ontario) Gregory Charles (Quebec) Jay Knutson (British Columbia) Jose Lajoie (Alberta) National Circus School (Quebec) Nikki Yanofsky (Quebec) Shaye (Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador) Sierra Noble (Manitoba) Tanya Tagaq (Nunavut) Tomi Swick (Ontario) Tribal Rythm (Quebec) The Canada Day Noon Show is presented by Canadian Heritage, in collaboration with the NCC, and will be broadcast live on CBC Television, Newsworld, RDI, and Tlvision de Radio-Canada and will be available on the Canadian Heritage website at www.canadianheritage.gc.ca. http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/s...be3&k=46084 --------------------
