It's been a Year, July 21st, 2008 Options

I'm glad our forum didn't get closed before the 21st. Could that wait at least until the 22nd if you were planning on doing it soon?

It's been a year, guys. 12 months ago some of us were lining up to get our book, or some of us were already home reading it. And thinking 'This is it'. THE book. The end of an era, man. 12 months ago I was probably reading about Lupin and Harry fighting, or Ron coming back, or Harry going into the forest. And here we thought it was not going to end, it seemed like so far away. And it's been a year since it did.

I'm officially starting my first re-read of Deathly Hallows today, it just seems right

Do you guys remember what it was like for you, one year ago?

At least I know my love for the series is still the same, even after 12 months.

Well, I didn't read till later that day, but I could not stop reading it. lol
I read it in 3 1/2 days.

I was thinking about this since like, Friday. And last night when I was watching the ESPY's I was like, at this time last year my sisters and I would be at the bookstore waiting for the book.

I remember it sooo clearly. As I posted in the MuggleCast thread I was so excited that I listened to my first episode of that show. I stopped going online at midnight in England(7:00 here) so I wouldn't see spoilers. I remember being at the bookstore at like, 9:00. It was so much fun. I got in trouble for taking a picture of the boxes before midnight. We got two books and a box that they came in. I remember we got home and I got ready for bed and then went downstairs and started reading. I only read for about an hour and a half or so because I was kind of freaked out being downstairs by myself. So I went to bed around 3:00 and woke up at probably 8:30 to continue reading. It was so hard to sleep knowing I had the book. I kept dreaming about reading it. I took some breaks throughout the day but it was so so so good. I finished it Sunday morning(probably 16 hours total) before we went to the Brewers game. That was my goal because even if it was a slim chance, I didn't want to risk hearing spoilers.

I still can't believe it was a year ago and I've only read it once. I plan on reading it this summer but I'm only on Goblet of Fire. I'll probably look through it today though and read some of my favorite parts.

After a year, I'm still as big of a fan as I was then.

I miss those crazy book releases. I can't believe it's over, you know?

Harry Potter lives though.

July 21st, 2007 was the day we all began to read the final book in JK Rowling's tale of Harry Potter. Can you believe a year has already passed? MuggleNet held two live events; one in Chicago, one in London. 11 million copies were sold in the first 24 hours. And who can forget the much-criticized early review from the New York Times?

I just went to make a post on my livejournal(actually, exactly the same thing that I posted above) about this and I went back to last year to look at my posts from after I read the book. Here's my first one Post-Deatly Hallows.

TITLE: Harry is the best hope we have. Trust him.
I fnished this morning. It was...amazing. Perfect. Wow. I can't even put it into words. I'm still trying to get over the feeling that I'll never read anything new about Harry Potter but still. I'm planning to do a long review tonight/tomorrow that will give away spoilers for those who want them. *cough*Alicia*cough*. I did get in trouble at the book store at midnight for taking a picture of the boxes before the book was released. Pfft. I'm going to reread the whole series before the end of the summer. The ending confused me a little but hopefully some people online can explain that to me. And a few of the deaths were really sad and people I didn't want to die. I hope sometime JKR will say who got the reprieve and the 2 characters she didn't intend to kill. I'll say my suspicions with my review.

It's funny reading that. I did post a review but I definitely didn't reread the entire series. I'm doing that now. And everything makes sense to me now. And JKR did say who got the reprieve and the characters who died who she didn't plan on dying.

On the 21st last year I woke up earlier than usual and just sat waiting for the delivery dude to bring the book. When the doorbell rang I just hopped up and ran for the door and then I started reading like a maniac. On the 21st I slept over at a friend's house, so I had to put reading on hold. But when I got back home on the 22nd I read the whole thing stopping only for meals. I cried when I finished the epilogue, which was late at night. I'm sure you all had the same feelings I did when you finished reading DH so I won't bother explaining why I cried.

I remember this time last year. It was probably one of the funnest times ever because it was such a build up of excitement. And the huge lineups of people to buy the books and amazing feeling once you got it and started to read it. AH THAT WAS AWESOME

It was so awesome last year. There were so many people getting that book at midnight, and all of them had the same thoughts going through their minds. It's just so ironic that it's already been a year. Wow, time really flies. It seems like a few months ago I was just reading the Sorcerer's Stone for the first time.

I first heard that song mentioned on the 12 hour live MuggleCast. Mikey or someone mentioned it so I wrote it down to check it out later. And I am so glad I did. I ripped it( ) of youtube and have it on my ipod. I listened to it so much yesterday. It fits everything that I feel so so perfectly.

Yeah I still have it. I can send it to you. I can upload it to sendspace if you want.

I use http://vixy.net/ to rip videos. The only bad thing is if I rip a song for audio it comes out longer than it actually is. Like End of an Era is 24 minutes or something. But if you have it on a playlist it will switch to the next song when it's over.

I don't know why it's on 45 minutes. But, as I said, if you have it on a playlist, it'll stop after the song is over and skip to the next track.
