Overjoyed that Mateusz took the title! I was a bit worried since returning contestants never seem to make it to the end so it was nice to see him break up this trend.
Agata's injury was such a bummer especially since she had some great momentum going especially after her Contemporary routine with All-Star Brian (S7 winner). Third time in a row that my season's favorite has to drop out due to an injury (though Mateusz was the one from the previous season so that kinda evens things out).

I'm still so bummed about Agata having to drop out due to her injury. sad.gif She had it in the bag if it wasn't for that unfortunate accident. pinch.gif She was surprising me every week with her maturity, versatility and technique. And her Contemporary with Brian has to be one of the best routines from SYTYCDPL, ever. She was invited to come back another season if she ever wanted to.

Kinda disappointed Mateusz won over Natalia since she was my second choice after Agata's injury, but oh well. Overall it was a pretty good season, I definitely enjoyed it a lot more than Season 7 and the All-Stars week (Top 6) was one of the best weeks in a while, it was great to see the past contestants dance again on the stage, especially Paulina and Marcin.

No idea if we're gonna get another season, but I'm gonna stay positive because I thought it was over after S7 and it still came back after a long break, so it should be back again after a successful season.

Agreed with everything. heart.gif

Agata was seriously flawless. Her winning this season was almost an undeniable fact after that Contemporary routine. It was beautiful.

And I agree. Mates also never danced Ballroom, and was in his style far too much for me to peg him as the right winner. Although he was never bad in any one routine.

Overall, I'd totally be invested in another PL season after how strong this season was.

That would be wonderful if she came back for another season! heart.gif She's definitely one of the strongest dancers both technique- and performance-wise to ever grace this stage (crazy to think that she's only 16!). Though Michał Maciejewski from S6 also got injured at the exact same point in the competition and never came back, but still, fingers crossed that there's another season and we see her again as a contestant. thumbsup.gif

Finished my Polish S8 marathon starting from the live shows....
This was a fairly good season. I enjoyed the majority of the group numbers. There were only a few routines that I wanted to fast-forward through.
I didn't connect with any one dancer to the point that I thought s/he HAD to win. Perhaps it has to do with the few issues I list later.
On the female side I'd say I preferred Sara and then Natalia the most.
On the male side I liked all but perhaps Hubert, and then Patryk didn't stick around long enough for me to remember him.
One issue I had with the season was how young the girls were or perhaps just seemed. Sure they could do the steps. But for me the "performance" wasn't usually what I'd like it to be for a show like this. I found the guys to be much more mature/professional in that regards. Therefore, I often felt the pairings were awkward. And would then just watch the guys for most of the routine.
The other issue was that many dancers seemed to stay close to their own genre week after week. Perhaps I'm mistaken. It may have been a good thing as well. Hard to say. But I'll usually latch on to the dancer that I see as the most versatile. And perhaps this is why I didn't really mind who got sent home or moved on week to week. Either the dancer wasn't given an opportunity to show versatility or I didn't think they were very versatile in what they were given.
Not sure whether there will be a season 9 soon. I think holding off for a while increased the talent pool quite a bit for S8. But I do wish they'd make the minimum age greater. I think a few of this season's girls could have benefited from a few more years of experience. It's hard enough to get a female winner on these shows. The females really have to be far superior than the guys to get the winning votes it seems. blarg.gif
And on to the Russian THT S1 marathon....

Interesting, that's quite a different reaction from what most of us here thought of the cast when the season was airing. shocked.gif The consensus was that Agata, even though the youngest of the contestant with 16 years, was pretty much unrivaled in versatility, performance abilty and technique (though Natalia came very close). As such I don't think the lower age rule did any harm, in fact I think the season had suffered a lot without Agata and if she hadn't gotten injured I'm fairly sure she would have taken the title.

I personally prefer the Russian 1tv S1 version, but perhaps it's for the best if you start with the TNT version. wink.gif
