  1. her name is Mary Margaret O'Hara. i don't think she's very famous. but famous enough to have a wikipedia page!
  2. Her sister is actually a singer too! So talent runs in the family!
  3. for those of you who only know catherine o'hara (and eugene levy) from Schitt's Creek
  4. So there was an original planned musical with music from Leonard Bernstein that was first staged in 1950 but had the songs cut down to 5 to play more like a straight drama. Probably what then happened is both Peter Pan the Disney movie probably had been in development long before that (it was actually in Disney development hell for what looks like nearly 15 years). It looks like since the 1950 version was a drama then another producer could secure the American musical rights and thus both the animated movie and the 1953 musical were developed independently but on parallel timelines.
  5. Chim Chim Cher-ee (Mary Poppins) I am once again cutting songs I love to save other songs that I think are more iconic to the Disney canon. I also think it helps that there are more Mary Poppins songs left in this rankdown than Dumbo songs so it's not too bad to lose this one at the Top 100. Watching a scene like this reminds me of just how incredibly charming Dick Van Dyke is. He's a little bit too young to be one of those old Hollywood leading men, but he's just the right age to really hit at the right time for the new TV. Probably why he has two sitcoms and a Variety show featuring him as a namesake and starring vehicle. For how boisterous as Dick Van Dyke's Bert typically is, this one is almost low key, especially the last minute or so. It ended up winning the 1964 Academy Award for Best Original song, and I think the levels that this song has is what contributes to that. And while it wouldn't be my choice from the movie I can't complain too much. Anyway, I love how delightfully awful Dick Van Dyke's Bert accent is and I feel that really only contributes to his character. I'm almost talking myself out of cutting this song so I'll just post the cut before I change my mind and lose my save. Saving: Baby Mine
  6. save: Baby Mine cut: Chim Chim Cher-ee
  7. I am gonna be ON IT for you to try and figure this out. LOL.
  8. for a second I forgot we were at Top 20 and I was like "wow how many cycles did I accidentally miss"
  9. The Three Caballeros I'd like to save this but I fear that if I leave it against any other song left Wally will almost certainly cut it (I think it's just us two left), so I'll give it the write-up that I want to give it as likely its only fan instead of just letting it fall to anybody else. I know that like Saludos Amigos, Fun & Fancy Free, and Make Mine Melody that The Three Caballeros is a very niche movie. It's one of the movies the studio pushed out when it was facing a dearth of animators during WWII. But it's probably shocking that it's almost certainly my most watched Disney movie from childhood. It's the only Mexican Disney movie after all. So my dad got it for me and my sister when we were little kids. Looking at the releases its had, almost certainly the 1994 home release which means I was literally watching this movie before I could really remember watching it. I literally learned the story of the Nativity from the "Los Posadas" vignette. "BaĆa" is one of my favorite sections and songs from this movie and Disney in general. Honestly, this movie is probably why I'm a fan of anthology movies and why Disney has stuck with me for so long, especially the less known side of Disney. I have a really strong affection for these birds and a strong affection for this movie overall and particularly this song. I'm really bummed to lose it but I think almost cracking the Top 100 is as about as well as I could have hoped for. Especially when all the other anthology songs were quickly getting eliminated about 200 spots ago. Saving: Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride
  10. save: Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride (Lilo & Stitch) cut: The Three Caballeros (The Three Caballeros)
  11. It's certainly the most Disney of them all. I agree that the melody is iconic and there's a good reason this song is pretty much THE Disney song.
