26. Ade & Melissa :: Contemporary to This Woman’s Work :: Tyce DiOrio

Alright. So this dance is a tad bit controversial with fans of the show. I can understand both sides of it. One side says this is emotional manipulation, which could be true, maybe it isn’t. I choose to believe it’s not, although if you get these kind of pieces you’re pretty much (almost) guaranteed safety. One side says it’s just a really beautiful contemporary that Tyce made for his friend. I mean really, we don’t know what Tyce was really thinking when he made this piece. Anyway, emotional manipulation or not, I thought this was beautiful. I cried. Or really, I started tearing up during the dance and completely lost it when Mia started talking. :’( There are some great parts in this, such as when Ade lifts Melissa by the wrists. This was the first time I ever really *got* something out of Melissa emotionally. I actually found the choreography really great and I would have liked it even if Asuka danced it, lol. Something about this routine just ~connects~ to me. Although I will say I actually preferred Time a lot more, mostly because I liked the concept better. But this was great.

Wow, I could not find this on YouTube until I looked in a play list. Always look for videos in the play list, kids. Okay, first, this song annoys me a lot which sucks because I always get it stuck in my head. I’m surprised I liked this as much as I did tbh. But I did! Plus they had a city background and that always makes everything better. I also liked that it was a classic setting, with a 20s or 30s era vibe. The beginning was amazing with Jason, and the snapping, and then Kayla comes in. IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT I’M TALKING ABOUT, WATCH IT. Woo hoo.





























24. Brandon & Melissa :: Broadway to Aquarius :: Tyce DiOrio

Okay, I really friggin love this. When I first heard what the song was, I didn’t think I’d be able to take it seriously because of that scene in The 40 Year Old Virgin. But uh, I love the 60s. I love hippies. I love peace. Therefore, I love this dance! It was really interesting. This really showed of Brandon’s athleticism - which is incredible btw - but it made it work with the dance. Nothing was too athletic or too out there for it, which I liked. Except for that caterpillar move, I didn’t get that. Melissa did great too. I loved the back somersault she did and the flip esque move over Brandon’s back. I think the parts on the floor were my favorite though. Peace brother love.
