I had vaginismus, which is: the condition that affects a woman's ability to engage in any form of vaginal penetration, including sexual intercourse, insertion of tampons and/or menstrual cups, and the penetration involved in gynecological examinations. This is the result of a reflex of the pubococcygeus muscle, which is sometimes referred to as the "PC muscle". The reflex causes the muscles in the vagina to tense suddenly, which makes any kind of vaginal penetration—including sexual intercourse—painful or impossible.

It's a mental thing usually so it can make certain things hurt and others not, like how it hurts for you to be examined but not sex. Not saying that you have it LOL but I think it's something that is really overlooked. I was yelling/crying the first time I ever got examined and she said it was just because I was a virgin. And since it was my first time she just used her hand, it wasn't even like I was having a full pap smear. (Which I still haven't and I am glad ) But every time I got examined (which was a lot, because I have tons of uterus/ovary issues) I was dying and every time my boyfriend at the time would try it on me I was dying and then finally someone was like bro you've got vaginismus and it's a long story i am rambling but it got ...fixed I guess haha

Don't pay too much attention to all the horror stories you hear of other first times, since it likely won't be exactly that way for your first time.
