I never liked Melissa's voice at all. I think Melinda would do a much better job with it.

It's a song by Heart, a popular 80's girl duo. I hated Melissa's voice a lot and did not think she did well with that song at all. There was just something about the tone of her voice that I really disliked.

Natalie Cole's 1987 hit "I Live For Your Love". My gut feeling is that, aside from "My Funny Valentine" (which I believe she was saving for the championship), if she had sung this one, instead of "I'm A Woman", she might have given a great many more sideline voters some second thoughts about sitting out the vote (to spare her the indignity of being denied, by 19 Entertainment or J Records, any possibility of exercising her own creativity for her album), or throwing their votes elsewhere...

...Be that as it may, it was almost certainly better for Mel not to have been saddled with that cheesy championship song (even though she would most certainly have rearranged "This Is My Now" to such a fever-pitch that it wouldn't have sounded like the same song at all). Regardless, it would be nice if they let her sing Natalie's song at the concert.

I find it a little odd that they aren't letting her sing MFV yet as well. Even worse, I heard that Jordin says she wants her first album to be similar to Kelly Clarkson (WTF?) which means she will probably kill Melinda in album sales.

I would love to hear Melinda's take on Think or Respect by Aretha Franklin, or I'm Every Woman or after hearing I Believe In You and Me, anything by Whitney, or even Fever by Peggy Lee.

Not necessarily. Kelly C.'s latest album, My December, is struggling now. Even more than that, what's good for the goose ain't always good for the gander. What may have worked for Kelly C. is not necessarily guaranteed to work for anyone else, Jordin included.
