You all are seeing platinum even though it was just over 500K...just b/c of the Olympics?

Just because a song got second life due to a worldwide broadcast doesn't make the sales less valid. Just like radio play for other artists doesn't make their sales invalid. --------------------

I don't think it should be all that surprising that "Home" had plateaued at 500k before its Olympics exposure. The tiny fraction of viewers who buy the contestants' music post-season had already done so, and everyone else had either never heard of it or had dismissed it as just something else from that stupid pop show. The Olympics exposure is potentially a very good thing for the show, provided they capitalize on it by finding interesting, non-archetypal contestants for next season and making sure "Home" wasn't a fluke by continuing to actually find good music for its alumni. Sadly, after the TAXI ads citing people like Jason Mraz, Train, and Jessica Simpson as the sort of artists they want songwriters to mimic, I'm not hopeful.

I didn't think anyone was surprised it plateaued at 500K prior to the Olympics. I'm a bit shocked that it sold 500K US Sales just in those 17 days. Then again 30million+...were watching each prime time night, also a lot in the afternoon and morning and even early morning. And, this Olympics basically doubled it's online presence just since the last Olympics. Well now we know the Olympics are great for promotion. What's surprising a little is that NBC used Phillip from American Idol instead of someone from their own show, The Voice.
