Simon is gunning for The Voice. X Factor will allow contestant with management to audition. Most of the good contestant on The Voice, are that type of contestant. If this was done the first season, one has to wonder if Tony Lucca or Jordis Unga might have tried out for X factor instead. not me because i believe simon would've told both of them no. --------------------

They don't have the "X Factor". Simon is going to be looking for a serious superstar for next season to change perceptions of TXF. None of TV contestants are relevant to what is current music atm. -------------------- |

Melanie won the X-Factor and didn't have the x factor. I agree somewhat, but I wouldn't write Melanie off completely either. I think with the right songs and the right direction by LA Reid she could be successful. What I meant was as part of the changes he is implementing for next year, he'll be hunting for the Cher Lloyd/Misha B/Rebecca F/Little Mix type contestants. One's whose style is in touch with current radio music. Sometimes I wonder if Simon sabotaged the first season of TXF US purposely, to simmer the hype right out of the gate and set it up for a big 'reinvention' so it can build momentum and appear as the underdog of these singing type shows. Watching Simon gain total control of tv ratings in the UK over the last few years, I have to wonder how he made so many odd and contradictory decisions with the US show. He always knows exactly what he's doing, it just made no sense for him to flame out so badly. -------------------- |

There is no way Simon wanted the first season of X Factor to be underwhelming. He just miscalculated the US market pretty badly but many predicted that XF wouldn't do that well here.
As for The Voice, two seasons a year is going to make the winners even bigger afterthoughts. You have to think that eventually singers would catch on to how The Voice doesn't do much for your career post-show and it would affect the caliber of contestants trying out. -------------------- |

Having the Voice twice a year is overkill. I don't think it's a good move.

And he found out how laughable the American public found her, so he cut her Simon didn't sabotage anything on purpose. He just miscalculated. What flies in the UK doesn't necessarily fly over here. That was his biggest mistake. This post has been edited by TiredOfSex: Feb 19th 2012, 6:09 PM -------------------- ![]() And you never knew why you felt so good. In the strangest of places.

^ And not to be all hipster (because I do watch these shows myself) but that's a big reason why people hate these singing reality shows. They think it sucks any individuality out of you and just try to turn you into a clone of something that's already existed.

Simon miscalculated. He does that a lot.
The Office past it's prime? Nah. Yes Michael Scott/Steve Carell leaving really hurt the comedic flow and w/o Pam Halpert/Jenna Fischer b/c she's on maternity leave for real life, we lost 2 of the 3/4 biggest comedic lynch pins of the show. When she returns and ppl get used to the fact that the face of the show is gone, it can still last for many years and still be very funny. -------------------- AI Forever: Kelly Clay Diana Carrie Kat Melinda Syesha Allison Crystal Haley Jessica

Maybe a 35 episode season might be a good idea?
They would need to do something different though. Maybe show touring and performances. -------------------- |

Idol's season is 40+ episodes. So it is doable.

I think it's good for entertainment purposes, but ultimately bad for the artists since there won't be enough promo for them...

Yeah except it hasnt been funny in years. Maybe not A quality funny but it does get funny at times. Are you one that's sad Michael Scott become more politically correct and wasn't so racist etc? (I don't think he was racist just socially awkward and says what's on the top of his mind.) -------------------- AI Forever: Kelly Clay Diana Carrie Kat Melinda Syesha Allison Crystal Haley Jessica
