First weekend of 2009 and the ACC countdown did a special year-end show. Instead of a countdown, they did a show they called "Country Heroes of 2008." They played 15MOS, ergo, Kristy is a hero. Well duh we knew that!
Here's a cap of the important parts! http://www.mediafire.com/?wfz0mn2yvmm Kix Brooks is the host and he talked about the National Finals Rodeo. Kelly Clarkson and Reba were there at the Hilton, which is where he and Dunn had their shows Dec 5-7. He said Kristy "did a great job on the anthem". That was Dec. 7 at the rodeo, when Brooks and Dunn had their set. I read somewhere she was talking with them backstage but I can't remember where I saw that. According to this article, Lee Greenwood came out right after her anthem! Kristy must have met up with him at some point. I bet they had something to talk about. http://www.lasvegasweekly.com/blogs/luxe-l...eenwood-honor-/ QUOTE It was an emotional moment for rodeo fans last night -- when the lights went out! Country superstars Brooks & Dunn had kicked off the opening of Night 4 of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo at the Thomas & Mack Center, while American Idol finalist Kristy Lee Cook sang the national anthem, and the sell-out crowd of 17,149 roared its approval. Then the lights went out! Completely out! After a split second of silence, one pinprick light shone on a surprise guest. Singer Lee Greenwood suddenly appeared in honor of Pearl Harbor Day. As he sang “God Bless the USA,” several members of the military, including four survivors from the Pearl Harbor attack, joined him. “It was a highly emotional scene,” an obviously moved Tom Donoghue told me this morning. Tom, our contributing photographer, is covering the entire NFR activities right through to Saturday’s wrap up and presentation of the $5.5 million prize purse. Once again, he captured some incredible photos of all the action -- and some of the pain -- from the fourth night! -------------------- |
