WEEK IN REVIEW

On Sunday, Adam was at the Tampa Jungle Ball. There was an endless line to get to see him and have a group pic taken with him, but people stuck it out! He was only on stage for a few seconds.

On Monday, we got a new videoblog from Adam who promised to make good use of the camera from now on... Here’s hoping! He performed WFFM on Conan who seemed really blown away by Adam. He invited him back to the couch... although there was no time to interview him.

On Tuesday, the video for FYE went on sale at midnight and reached #1 a few hours thereafter where it stayed all day. Adam was named #1 Top Artist of 2009 by Rolling Stone!

On Wednesday, Adam performed on the finale of SYTYCD and knocked it out of the park with what is being viewed as his best rendition of WWFM so far. He then joined Chelsea on Chelsea Lately where much of his time was spent giggling. Loved it! FYE video is still #1!!!!

On Thursday, Adam was on KISS FM with Jojo. The interviewed revealed that Adam is 6’1” and he likes mac and cheese! Real in-depth interview as you can see! But Jojo invited Adam to come ‘hang’ with him any time he wanted. A short video of Adam and Jojo showed how enthused Jojo is about Adam. Leno also had a skit with Adam making a cameo appearance. Check it out! Adam was totally adorable!

On Friday, we found out that it is possible to grow into a full-fledged interviewer in a period of 24 hours! Jojo had Adam on his show again and this time managed a wonderful interview!!! Adam was of course as charming as ever! Entertainment Weekly hit the stands and wonderful pictures of Adam were posted all over the internet!!!!

On Saturday, it was confirmed that New York City won the free concert with Adam, Allison and Kris. Cute video from Adam congratulating New Yorkers and telling us to stay tuned for tickets... Wallets were looked into, piggy banks were rattled, coat pockets were searched, couches were dug into, plans are being made....

When I returned stateside to American soil it was then I had my eyes opened. Here in America the Gay Community is still a second class citizen. They are not allowed to marry. They are not allowed all the same rights and freedoms and protection as other American citizens. I was floored. President Obama ran under the campaign with a word…“change”. I hope he doesn’t disappoint us. I hope he frees the Gays. Lord knows there are plenty of them fighting in the Armed Service for our Nations continued FREEDOM and no our FREEDOM IS NOT FREE. It comes at a cost to those who serve and more. You’d have to be blind, deaf and dumb to know gays are in our services. You’d also have to be blind, deaf and dumb to know if one of your friends are gay and they are found out, they will be dishonorably discharged and you as their friend go under the microscope for being associated with “their kind”. Another thing I think the President needs to change. I have never fought as a civilian for any cause but now as a retired military member, seeing what ABC is doing to Adam Lambert after the AMA performance; I will stand for Gay Rights. I will fight for Gay rights. And no I am straight, and no I do not know Mr. Lambert. But watching him in the media, trying to be just himself and being held to a different standard, having to hide who he is, and being oppressed for a lifetime…. Well ladies and gentleman, as my newest President has said and I quote, “For unlike the great powers of old, we have not sought world domination. Our union was founded in resistance to oppression. We do not seek to occupy other nations. We will not claim another nation’s resources or target other peoples because their faith or ethnicity is different from ours. What we have fought for—what we continue to fight for—is a better future for our children and grandchildren. And we believe that their lives will be better if other peoples’ children and grandchildren can live in freedom and access opportunity”; thus this is a fight I can stand behind. Free the American oppressed. Free Adam Lambert.

WEEK IN REVIEW

On Sunday, Adam was at the Minneapolis Jingle Ball where he appeared on stage three times. The rest of the day was pretty quiet.

On Monday, most fans spent the day drooling over videos of the Minneapolis Jingle Ball. Adam was his usual charming self. Monte also teased the fans by tweeting that Adam and the band had BIG BIG plans for NYE!!!!

On Tuesday, we got some backstage video from the Minneapolis Jingle Ball. Adam did his taping of The View and by all accounts, things went well. That night, Adam performed WWFM at the VEVO launch party.

On Wednesday, the long-awaited Barbara Walters Top 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009 aired and Adam was delightfully honest, as usual. He performed the SSB acapella for ADL’s shindig honouring Steven Spielberg. His performance earned him a standing ovation from the crowd and Steven Spielberg said his kids will be most impressed that he met Adam Lambert and thanked Adam for singing and said that Adam has an amazing gift. High praise from Mr. Spielberg... any movie offers will be considered.... WHAT? Just sayin’!!!!! We also found out that Adam and his team cancelled the Larry King Live interview scheduled for Thursday, stating that they want to now concentrate on the music and no so much on interviews (read AMA rehash).

On Thursday, Adam was on The View (pre-taped to protect the innocents). He charmed the ladies on The View, was funny (“My dreidl spins the other way!”) and performed WWFM. Later that night, we found out that Adam would headline the Gridlock New Year’s Eve at Paramount with a 40-minutes set performing songs from his CD. Phones went aringin’, hotels were Googled, airfares were researched... and fans made arrangements to meet and attend in droves!!!!

On Friday, Adam schmoozed with all the ‘right people’ at Madison Square Garden for the Z100 Jingle Ball... Delightful pictures and videos kept the fans entertained well into the night!

On Saturday, Adam was in Miami for their Jingle Ball and sang part of WWFM acapella!!!! We are still awaiting video!!!!

What I thought was just going to be a regular night at Musical Mondays at SPLASH Bar turned-out to be pretty exciting.

Around 9:30pm, none-other-than Adam Lambert himself comes strolling in! With about 3 friends, he moved to the back of the bar into a booth.

And... a million cell phones immediately whipped out texting friends and updating their Twitter/Facebook statuses.

I got the balls to walk over and say hi (thanks to a great friend who pulled me into the booth).

He is much skinnier than I thought he would be. Glam black make-up. Black crow hair quaffed to high-heaven. Black fingertip-less gloves, black shirt and pants, long dangly chain around his neck.... (Love child of Liza and Joanne Worley?!) BUT SOOOO SWEET IN PERSON!

I introduced myself and friend as members of the NYC Gay Mens Chorus (we were flyering the tables). Told him I was there when he got accepted at his San Francisco audition (laughed that he went skipping down the street).

Then asked him why he was in-town. He is taping THE VIEW tomorrow but was sad that Whoopi wasnt going to be there. I told him to slap Elizabeth for us. He joked that he was going to be really condescending and call her Lizzie during the interview. Soooo sweet and surprisingly receptive to fans saying hello.

He left around 10:15pm, hugging/kissing fans on the way out.

WEEK IN REVIEW

On Sunday, Adam’s fans enjoyed a blissfully quiet day.

On Monday, Adam tweeted that he was on his way to tape The Ellen Show and said that he was learning, going in a new direction and that the AMAs were a one-time event. Our hearts broke a little after reading these. Was Adam beaten down by TPTB? Fans who attended the taping said the conversation was more serious than they expected but that Adam seemed in good spirits and sang his face off.

On Tuesday, we got the final count on CD sales from HDD and Adam came in third with 195,974 albums sold in its first week!!!! Congratulations Adam!!!! We found out that Adam was shooting a commercial for VEVO, a new video internet site which will launch on December 7th. From various tweets, said commercial seemed to involve a high-class hooker, a punk dog, a glittery guitar for Monte and an 80s-clad Adam... Time will tell. Adam’s appearance on The Ellen Show was very sweet and Ellen’s admiration for Adam came shining through. Adam admitted that he may have made an error in judgment for his first second impression on the public but held firm that he did nothing wrong. His rendition of WWFM was vocally a masterpiece and visually heartbreaking.

On Wednesday, the Nielsen SoundScan numbers were in and Adam sold 198,903 and came in third in his debut week as a recording artist... Not too shabby!!! Adam was in People Magazine as well as various magazines around the world... BB is going international! Adam tweeted to tell his fans that ABC was cancelling his appearance on Kimmel and NYE with Ryan! But he also tweeted that he would be on Leno. Fans’ anger rose to a boiling point and the media condemned ABC for this relentless witch-hunt on Adam.

On Thursday, we got the worldwide sales for FYE and it sold 210,000 and charted #7!!!! Go Adam!!!! Adam was sick on Thursday but still managed to be his ever-charming self on three radio interviews in the morning and pushed through to the Hard Rock Hotel afternoon event when he donated his Kiss outfit from the AI finale. Later that night, he also did another radio interview! Meanwhile the media and Adam’s fans converged on ABC to express their disgust and anger at the way Adam was being treated. Although Adam has never wanted to be a poster child for any political/social issue, he sure managed to create a very interesting and long overdue conversation about double standards in America and the power of the few (bigots) to influence ABC’s handling of a 3 minute performance that certainly did not deserve a two-weeks chiding and punishment of Adam when ABC was very well aware of the direction of the performance (minus a few seconds here and there). For ABC to act all prim-and-proper-and-pearl-clutching after they pimped Adam’s performance for days before seemed hypocritical at best, but spineless at its worst.

On Friday, ABC seemed to have seen the light (although blurred a bit) and has invited Adam to be on The View next Thursday (the morning after Barbara Walters’ Special about the Ten Most Fascinating People of 2009), albeit with a pre-taped interview and performance (because of Adam’s conflicting schedule, as per ABC... Maybe... Time will tell... Only when Adam has appeared live on ABC will his fans be truly convinced that ABC has seen the error of its ways). The best tweet of the week came from ABC News department: “@abc Guys, just a heads up, this is ABC NEWS, not ABC Entertainment. We (at this acct) have no say in @adamlambert performing and your petition.” Gotta love the fans passionate support of Adam! I almost (almost!) feel sorry for the ABC NEWS guys who must have been getting flooded with tweets!

On Saturday, the calm returned to the fandom while we awaited the first of four Jingle Ball events which Adam will be hosting in the coming week.
