The Voice will not last without creating successful pop stars. People who want to watch nice singers perform can go to a club near them. I want to see future stars.

utterly laughable statement. as if AI has really produced that many stars. while there are a number who get signed in some small recording company, they just fade into oblivion after their low-selling debut albums

like what someone has pointed out about the audience, i belong to those who watch these shows as a reality show primarily, they just need to entertain me through their singing or through sucking and meltdowning in an epic and hilarious way on a TV show. i could give a sh!t as to what happens to these wannabees after the show, i'm not getting paid by them for caring.

Nah, it'll be fine. Except for here on IDF, where people are borderline irrational about their determination to see these shows produce stars, not many viewers really care. Only a small fraction of the viewers have ever actually bought the contestants' music (the only Idol purchase I ever made was a copy of Phillip's coronation single, and I'm one of the most hardcore Idol viewers out there, I'd imagine). This is reflected by the fact that even Kelly, Carrie, and Daughtry's average sales per album don't come remotely close to matching those seasons' viewership numbers.

Though IDF doesn't want to hear it, the truth is that the vast majority of viewers watch these shows the same way they watch Survivor, the Amazing Race, Big Brother, etc. It's a reality TV show first and foremost, and then the relatively small number of viewers who care about the post-show sales can participate in that while everyone else waits in anticipation of the next season.

What might kill the Voice's numbers is that they're running twice a year now. Its numbers will certain gradually degrade from that, just as Survivor's and the Amazing Race's have (thought they're still going very strong). But so far, oversaturation certainly hasn't hurt their numbers very much.

Yeah Im in the overall minority (majority on IDF) Im here to see talent and hopefully the next big star. I couldn't care less about the drama and sob stories, in other words the reality TV aspects of it. However I watch The Voice and X-Factor a lot differently than I watch Idol. Im not nearly as invested in either as much as Idol mainly cause I don't think their talent is as good. Doesn't mean they don't have good and sometimes great contestants just not as many Idol seems to get. Plus a lot of The Voice's contestants are too old to have big time careers as Pop stars.

How old is "too old" you figure? The majority of last season's contestants were in their mid 20's. I definitely think contestants on the Voice have star power. Maybe, what might make it seem like they're "too old" is that some of them have been around the block a few times (band members turning solo, back-up singers turning solo, etc). I agree.. I don't think they're "too old," we're just used to having lots of teen stars in idol. I actually think overall The Voice has more talent than idol. Usually on idol I will like between 2 and 6 people each season, but I like more people on the Voice. I also think there is more diversity on The Voice.

Where is Jerrmaines single on Itunes? I'm shocked he couldn't enter the top 200 singles after that high profile performance. The song is hella generic though, sounds kinda like a sellout.
