He wants to be highest-paid player in the league and isn't a top-five QB. I get that any athlete in this situation is going to try to hit the home run, but Russell's self-righteousness on top when he's being so unreasonable has definitely made him less likable.

I had no idea Brady destroyed a cell phone so it couldn't be used as evidence. Innocent or not, that seems really shady.

But that's it. It's over. Let us move on. Brady's gonna come back after his suspension and play mad anyway. I'm quite sad the Jets have to be in his war-path twice after return (why couldn't we play Jimmy G in the 1st 4 weeks? Boo.)

While I do believe Brady had knowledge and/or participated in "deflategate" I don't think he deserved that harsh of a punishment. Maybe a fine and a suspension for the season opener. The fact that his punishment is the same as Greg Hardy's is pretty disgusting.

^^ exactly. many QB'S have also admitted to deflating balls or doing things to them. Also until a tape came out Ray Rice was only getting 2 games for abuse. So what the NFL is saying is deflating balls is worse than abuse

4 games for damaging the integrity of the game? Fair (sort of).

4 games for domestic abuse? Not fair.

We shouldn't look at this as the NFL saying deflating balls is as bad as domestic abuse, we should consider that for some messed up reason, the NFL is dropping the ball on these DA suspensions. They need to get serious about that.

There are plenty of youth who look up to these athletes; they aspire to someday be like them. What message is the NFL sending when domestic abuse is met with a slap on the wrist? One of these suspensions is, in the most basic of ways, just about a little cheating. Most everyone would be lying if they said they've never cheated, in some way, on something before. Tom Brady got caught, and will pay the price, and move on with his career like nothing happened. At the end of the day, it's only a minor blip. But it teaches people that cheaters never win. In comparison, the other suspensions are for a criminal offense. A four game suspension for something like that teaches nothing, other than you can get away with these acts without any repercussions; just take the slap on the wrist and move on with your career like nothing happened. It's absolutely stupid. First offense should be a year-long suspension, no questions asked. Second offense should be an indefinite suspension from the league. Plain and simple.

And don't get me started on how smoking a joint with your friends can land you in more trouble than beating your girlfriend senseless. Gee.

Honestly, it is embarrassing to admit you watch the NFL sometimes. I'm not really an NBA fan, but its commissioner is at least capable of creating the illusion that his job is to act in the interest of players and fans. The NFL is just a soulless creature that acts in its owners' best financial interests 100 per cent of the time because it knows no scandal is big enough to damage it. The Brady suspension is not as bad as the countless domestic abused cases they've poo-pooed, but there's no denying if he hadn't have wasted $5 million of the other owners' money on the Wells report, the suspension would have been reduced.
