It’s hard to say goodbye

posted on July 12th, 2007 by Jessica

After a fun filled show last night we were faced with a hard elimination show. Opinions were mixed all across the board and it wasn’t easy trying to pick out the bottom girl and guy. On today’s show the dancers started off with a bang dancing to “You Can’t Stop The Beat” from Hairspray which was choreographed by guest judge and Hairspray director Adam Shankman. After the dance number the dancers were called out in groups of twos and three’s and in the end we were left with a bottom three of Danny and Anya, Cedric and Shauna, and Hok and Jaimie. After a musical number from Hillary Duff who sported a pink genie in a bottle type outfit, the judges came out and sealed the fate of Cedric and Shauna. Kat was quick to remind Cedric that he’s got a spot waiting for him with the very talented Debbie Allen but what does the future hold for Shauna? Hopefully we’ll be able to see more from both dancers soon and I wish them much success. Hey, maybe Shauna can try out her techno skills. Here’s hoping we’ll be seeing her at a club getting her groove thing on soon. On Monday we’ll find out the styles of dances that our top 12 will be doing in their last pairing together before we hit the top 10.

Baby Don’t Dance!

posted on July 1st, 2007 by Mike

No, this isn’t a post telling everyone to boycott the show after Jessi Peralta and Jesus Solorio got unceremoniously booted from the show last Thursday. Though that would certainly be justified, no?

Anyway, this is just a reminder that SYTYCD will NOT be taped or airing this week. Apart from it being July 4th, it’s also been said that the dancers are getting a week off so injuries are less likely to plague them. Last season, a number of contestants, including most of the Top 6, suffered from various injuries; ranging from sprained knees to broken toes. Personally, I’m glad. These dancers come on this show to entertain and do what they love, not dance through injuries. Good job, Nigel. This may be the first smart decision you’ve made all season.

What a slap in the face to Jessi, huh?

Travis and Ivan – New DVD and plans with an Idol

posted on June 29th, 2007 by Jessica

In a recent interview for Movement magazine, season 2’s Travis Wall and Ivan Koumaev talk about their new DVD and future plans to work with Idol runner up Blake Lewis. As for upcoming shows, they’ll be at Fire Island in New York on the 21st and 22nd of July. They also have some undercover projects in the works that they hope will change things up a bit. As a Travis fan myself, I know I’m excited to see more of him! To see the interview as well as hear the guys talk about flying and see Travis open up about Danny being on the show, check out the video below.

Review of Top 16 Performance Show (6/27)

posted on June 28th, 2007 by Mike

After each performance show, you can expect a review of all the dance (plus some other things I noticed) from yours truly. And you’ll enjoy them, or else I’ll hunt you down and beat you up. Moving on!

OK, so the combination of a storm + DirecTV = me missing the last 4 couples. Though I watched them all online, I only got to see the dance (no pre-performance / judges’ comments). So the comments will be significantly shorter for those dances.

What’s up with Jessi?

jessica peralta

Today we learned that Jessica Peralta wasn’t able to dance the Cha-Cha with partner Pasha Kovalev. It’s such a pity too, can you imagine how hot that would be?! Kristin Veitch, a reporter for Eonline.com wrote “Jessi, collapsed during dress rehearsal this week and was taken away by ambulance. I’m told she will be fine; however according to sources, she suffers from a medical condition that she may or may not have informed producers about before joining the show.” Sounds like Jessi might have some explaining to do. Sources are saying that the collapse happened sometime around noon and that Pasha was visibly upset. Of course we all hope that she makes a full and speedy recovery. Stay tuned for more details as they arise.
