After each performance show, you can expect a review of all the dance (plus some other things I noticed) from yours truly. And you’ll enjoy them, or else I’ll hunt you down and beat you up. Moving on!
OK, so the combination of a storm + DirecTV = me missing the last 4 couples. Though I watched them all online, I only got to see the dance (no pre-performance / judges’ comments). So the comments will be significantly shorter for those dances.
Some random notes before the dancing starts:
- Cat’s dress is…interesting. Dominatrix much?
-Mary looks cuter than usual. Go ‘head, girl.
-Debbie Allen just verbally wrote her autobiography. Thanks for the history lesson.
Now, onto the dancing.
Up first are Sara & Jesus, dancing a Krump choreographed by Lil’ C. Love the emo specs Lil’ C is sporting. My favorite move had to be ‘the bathroom stall’; I bet I could work that.
So, the performance was…pretty good. I mean, I liked it, but it wasn’t amazing. Sara really worked it out, and Jesus was pretty good. I watched Sara for most of the routine, though. But when the only other Krump routine was done last season by Travis and Martha (which was amazing), this one doesn’t measure up.
Shauna & Cedric are the second couple, and they ‘pulled’ a Contemporary routine, which Mia Michaels will choreograph. Let me start of by saying I miss Shimmy. Really though, they were an amazing couple. I’m a little ‘what the hell?’ at Shauna wanting to be a techno singer and Cedric wanting to be a toy maker. OK then… Yay for Ben assisting again; Mia obviously loves him.
So, the routine was alright.Shauna basically did a solo while Cedric sat in the corner and cried. I really have no problem with that, but this is supposed to be a couples’ dance. It was a solo. I almost want them to Bottom 3 tomorrow so Shauna can be amazing yet again, and Cedric can finally get the boot. I feel his emotions were so contrived, his dancing was all over the place, and he needs to stop talking. That is all.
The favorites Lacey & Kameron are third to go, and they got the dreaded Quickstep, choreographed by Tony Meredith. Lord, save me now. Haha, the brought out that form holder like they did for Musa last season. Natalie’s reaction to that was priceless. *sigh* How I miss last season.
So, I really enjoyed it; what a surprise. I still don’t get their whole hype, though. For me (I’m about to be murdered), they’ve only been really good for three weeks now. I didn’t think the Contemporary was amazing like everyone else, which I’ve been endlessly reamed out for. But yeah, I have yet to be WOWed by them. Though this is the first time I’ve enjoyed both of them in the same routine. Oh, and stop showing Benji.
The last couple before my DirecTV craps out is the ‘most consistent’ couple Anya & Danny. They’ll be performing a Hip-Hop routine choreographed by Dan Karaty. Ew. Watching the pre-performance video, they’re a really cute couple; I like them both. Anya imitating the ‘boom kats’ was adorable.
So the routine, as expected, was only alright. They weren’t together for a lot of it, and they only had the feel for portions of the dance. I’m really hoping that they can excel in more than just ballroom, because they’re honestly the only couple in which I like both members. Though I do think the judges saying they should handicap the others dancers/Anya & Danny are SO above the others us annoying. But whatever, I still like them. Danny was definitely biting his tongue after his first negative comments, haha. WORK IT.
So this is the point in which my DirecTV went. Only the dances will be commented on from here on out.
Sabra & Dominic are up next, and they will be dancing a Rumba, choreographed by Jean-Marc Generaux. Hm, ‘Stickwitu’? Interesting. But hey, that’s Jean-Marc this season. So yeah, it was really, REALLY good. Why don’t more people like Sabra? She’s been excellent 3 weeks in a row now. Not to take anything away from Dominic, but I think Sabra’s just done better. I really hope she makes the Top 10.
Lauren & Neil, otherwise known as Allison & Ivan, are up next. They are, of course, doing a Tango choreographed by Jean-Marc Generaux. If they get West Coast Swing next week, I’ll crap myself. Too bad they aren’t really following in Ivison’s footsteps, because that was the worst so far. The chemistry was semi-there, but the dancing wasn’t really. And I felt NO passion, which is very very important. So I guess the chemistry wasn’t really there, haha. Actually, it seemed more like an act to me. Hoping these two find themselves in the Bottom 3, like they should have the first week around.
My girl Jaimie & Hok are the second to last couple to go, and they’re going to be working a Jazz routine by Wade Robson. OK, amazing concept, amazing dancing, amazing routine. In my opinion, the routine of the season (so far). They nailed it. And now the Jaimie haters can shut up, so yay. I really just loved the danced, the interaction between them, the obvious and not forced (*ahem*) chemistry; just…all of it. They really proved they can work it, and I’m glad.
Pasha & Melanie are the last to go, and they’re going to Cha Cha it up. If you read my spoilers, Jess’ post or watched the show, you know why Jessi Peralta is absent. If you didn’t do any of those three, do so now. Anyway, I feel a bit weird ranking this against the others; it feels unfair in a way. Pasha was HOT HOT HOT in this routine, which caused me to melt into a puddle on the floor. But then I looked at Melanie and got a little cooler. I can only imagine how that would have been with Jessi; my lord. I don’t really understand why the judges stood up after the performance, because I don’t feel it was THAT amazing. But hey, to each their own.
My ranking for tonight is as follows:
1. Jaimie & Hok
2. Sabra & Dominic
3. Pasha & Melanie
4. Lacey & Kameron
5. Shauna & Cedric
6. Anya & Danny
7. Sara & Jesus
8. Lauren & Neil
I’m thinking the Bottom 3 will be Lauren & Neil, Anya & Danny, and Shauna & Cedric. Out of those 3, I’m thinking (and hoping) Jessi and Cedric will be leaving. I really don’t think it would be healthy for Jessi to continue on in the competition. Who knows with this show, though? That’s all for tonight; peace out!
